Stacy Guffey
Stacy Guffey lives in Brendletown with his 14 year-old son, James. The former Planning Director for Macon County, he works as a land use planning consultant for local and regional non-profits and local governments in the far western counties of North Carolina. He also offers translation services, language training and legal research services. He lived and studied in Puerto Rico and finished his formal education at Western Carolina University with a B.A. in English Literature. He is also a graduate of the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership at UNC Wilmington. In addition to his service to the Little Tennessee Watershed Association, he has served on a variety of non-profit boards, among them Little Tennessee River Greenway and the Macon County Latino Council.
A native of Macon County, Stacy has a strong passion for the preservation and conservation of mountain communities, landscapes and resources. He has over a decade of experience working with local leaders and residents on a broad range of issues ranging from water quality, land conservation, town planning, disaster relief to economic development.
Stacy enjoys community activism, language learning, traveling, playing the fiddle, dancing, farming, playing foosball, walking in the woods and spending time with his son James.
