Watauga Creek Restoration - tree planting
Get your hands dirty and help restore the Little Tennessee River! Now that the ground is thawed, we need to finish our most recent restoration project and plant permanent vegetation on Watauga Creek.
Where: Meet at the Little Tennessee Watershed Association's office in downtown Franklin to carpool over to the restoration site or call 828-369-6402 for directions.
When: meet at 1pm, finish no later than 3pm
The restoration consisted of removing a damaged culvert that was acting as a barrier for small migrating fish. We removed the culvert and built a new bridge this winter.
All that is left to complete the job is planting permanent vegetation and laying extra straw to protect against erosion while the new vegetation establishes itself. If you can help out, please sign up to volunteer here or call us. Thanks!
